Home Owners(sic) Associations are the tentacles of the new local and national syndicates (mafia) in the United States.
What used to be useful community associations have been taken over by Association Management Companies that perpetuate themselves through Home Owner Boards of 3 to 6 or so controlling directors (admittedly voted in by a mostly apathetic membership). The AMCs, HOAs, and the CAI are only interested in their own welfare (fiduciary or financial). Their ability to keep property values up and be self supporting is mainly because Home Owners want to trust the HOA boards to take care of the neighbohood while membership goes about earning a living and enjoying the good life.
Not expecting anything else, they accept the CC&Rs as long as they think the rules will not interfere with their lifestyle. Then, when it does, boo hoo hoo! The only thing to do is sell, if you can.
Meanwhile, unsuspecting home buyers do not know that some owners have more than one vote (multiple properties). Even employees of the Community Management Associations have acquired multiple properties in the HOAs so the membership can’t get enough votes together to replace Board members….EQUALS “Dictatorship”.
The politicians are in cahoots – for campaign funds and the lawyers?Well, they help to write the CC&RS and get all kinds of moolah from Home Owners for lawsuits, even when they lose. They even make more in the litigation when they are on the side of the HOAs and the Manangement Agencies/Associations, which some of them own.
